The brief

Pro Technical delivered a full AV installation for Box Piccadilly on behalf of Arc Inspirations. The installation scope recorded by Pro Technical comprises sound, lighting and video equipment to support three distinct operating modes: daytime hospitality with background music and announcements; simultaneous multi-screen distribution of live sport; and late-night live performance. The venue capacity is recorded as 800 and the project was completed in October 2025.

From daytime hospitality to live performance

Box Piccadilly required a single integrated fit-out capable of switching reliably between low-level background music and the higher output, low-latency requirements of live bands and DJs. The venue also needed concurrent multi-screen live-sport distribution so that different areas could show the same event across multiple displays without compromising audio or video quality. Pro Technical's brief was therefore to provide an AV architecture that supported distributed video routing, zoned audio with scalable power, and performance-grade lighting — all manageable from a central control layer.

The challenge

The principal delivery constraints were the tight construction programme in a central London location and the requirement to serve multiple operating profiles from a single installation. The schedule limited on-site time for large-format deliveries and prolonged rack build, while Piccadilly site logistics required careful sequencing to avoid clashes with other trades. Technically, the system had to deliver both high-quality distributed video and a multi-zone audio topology with predictable behaviour when operating in mixed modes (sport, background music and live performance).

Design decisions

To meet the multi-profile requirement Pro Technical designed an integrated architecture that separates core disciplines while allowing unified control. Video distribution was specified around an AVoIP-based matrix to enable flexible, low-latency routing to multiple large-format LED screens and local displays. Audio was designed as a zoned system with discrete amplification and delay correction for different audience areas; the architecture supports high-output front-of-house and subwoofer configuration for live performance plus separate background zones for daytime operation. Lighting design used professional performance fixtures to provide both wash and focused stage looks for bands and DJs, while supporting ambient daytime scenes for hospitality.

Equipment and system architecture

Installed disciplines documented by Pro Technical include sound, lighting and video equipment. The video distribution uses AVoIP matrix technology to route multiple sources to large-format LED screens and additional displays around the venue. Pro Technical's verified project information identifies Netvio AVoIP/HDBT matrix solutions as used for Box Piccadilly video distribution to achieve flexible multi-screen routing. Audio hardware and loudspeaker selection are recorded within the project scope; equipment tags for this installation include RCF speakers. Lighting fixtures include Chauvet performance lighting specified to provide stage and ambient lighting scenes. The system topology separates video, audio and lighting into rack-mounted distribution and processing equipment with local stage floor pockets and distributed display endpoints, allowing each discipline to be serviced independently while remaining controllable from a central programming interface.

Installation

Pro Technical carried out the installation during the venue construction phase, coordinating deliveries and rack integration to align with the project schedule. Cabling and containment followed discrete pathways for AV, power and control to reduce interference and simplify commissioning. Video endpoints — large LED screens and ancillary displays — were installed and networked into the AVoIP matrix. Audio loudspeakers and performance monitoring systems were installed and positioned according to the zoned audio design. Lighting trusses and fixed fixtures were installed above the stage and hospitality areas and rigged to the venue’s structural provisions. Throughout the installation Pro Technical implemented cable labelling, rack documentation and asset tagging to support handover and future maintenance.

Commissioning

Commissioning validated the system across its three operating modes. Video commissioning checked source routing, latency and synchronisation across the AVoIP matrix to ensure consistent image timing on multiple screens. Audio commissioning completed level alignment, EQ and delay compensation for each zone to deliver intelligible background music, coherent sport commentary and the headroom required for live performance. Lighting commissioning established scene states for daytime ambient, sport-enhancement and stage looks, and verified DMX/Art-Net control integration with venue lighting control. Pro Technical tested scene recall and cross-discipline transitions to confirm the venue could switch reliably between operating profiles.

The result

The finished installation provides Box Piccadilly with an integrated AV system that meets the documented operational requirement: daytime hospitality with background music and announcements; simultaneous, flexible multi-screen live-sport distribution; and production-capable audio and lighting for late-night live performance. Project completion was recorded as October 2025. The installed approach — AVoIP video routing combined with zoned audio and professional lighting — gives venue operators a single coherent system capable of predictable behaviour across all three operating modes.
