The brief

Circe's Rooftop in Waterloo required a robust fixed sound system capable of supporting daytime hospitality and evening atmosphere for a rooftop bar. The brief supplied to Pro Technical recorded a clear constraint: the installation had to deliver an appropriate level of in-venue sound while minimising audio spill to neighbouring properties on surrounding terraces and buildings.

The challenge: rooftop acoustic constraints

Installing a sound system on a rooftop brings a distinct set of acoustic and logistical challenges. For Circe's Rooftop the controlling project constraint was the need to contain audible energy on-site to avoid disturbance to neighbouring properties. Rooftop installations also typically involve restricted mounting points, exposure to weather, and the requirement to meet local planning or licencing conditions related to noise. Pro Technical planned work around these constraints as the primary delivery risk.

Design decisions

To address the venue requirement and the project constraint of limiting external audio spill, Pro Technical designed a sound system specification centred on Martin Audio technology. The project scope recorded in the case materials states the installation of a Martin Audio sound system. The choice of a recognised professional sound brand was made to ensure consistency of manufacture, serviceability and predictable performance. Design work prioritised an arrangement and orientation intended to provide even coverage across the rooftop while limiting energy directed toward neighbouring façades and terraces.

Equipment and system architecture

The verified equipment detail for this project is the installation of a Martin Audio sound system. No further model-level quantities or additional component lists are supplied in the project evidence. Pro Technical’s recorded scope describes this work solely as a sound system installation using Martin Audio as the installed system brand.

Installation

Pro Technical carried out on-site installation work to place and secure the Martin Audio loudspeakers and associated infrastructure on the rooftop. Installation activity took account of rooftop access, mounting locations and routing for cabling and power. Where rooftop mounting interfaces or weather exposure needed consideration, Pro Technical implemented industry-standard practices for fixed outdoor AV installations. The project completion date supplied in project records is 1 May 2025.

Commissioning

Following physical installation, the system was commissioned on site. Commissioning activity included functional verification of loudspeaker connections, zone checks and listening tests across the rooftop area to confirm coverage. Commissioning work focused on ensuring the installed Martin Audio system delivered the intended in-venue sound while enabling control measures to limit off-site sound levels, in line with the project constraint to minimise audio spill to neighbouring properties. The supplied project evidence does not include measured decibel levels or specific commissioning results.

The result

The project record confirms Pro Technical completed the installation of a Martin Audio sound system for Circe's Rooftop Waterloo with a recorded completion date of 1 May 2025. The project documentation identifies the principal outcome as delivery of the specified Martin Audio sound system and commissioning on site. The evidence set for this case study does not include post‑commissioning measured noise levels, operational metrics or client testimonial; accordingly no additional performance claims are made here.
